For more than 35 years, Quality Positioning Services (QPS) have been experts in maritime geomatics software and services. We are unique in that our solutions encompass the entire workflow, from the surveyor all the way to the pilot. Our solutions are used across a variety of industries, including hydrographic surveying, dredging, offshore construction, oil and gas, offshore wind farm support, chart production, and piloting.

QPS is headquartered in Zeist, The Netherlands, and has subsidiary offices located in Portsmouth, USA; Fredericton, Canada; and Banbury, UK.

QPS is part of Total Specific Solutions since August 2020.

Our History

Our company history

from small beginnings.

From our roots as a navigation and positioning consultancy, QPS has grown and evolved significantly over the years, through various acquisitions and new product development into the unique software and services provider that we are today. With diverse product offerings, serving multiple industries, we are always looking ahead and ready for what's next. See below for some of the highlights in our company history.

1986 - QPS is founded

Quality Positioning Services BV (QPS), headquartered in Zeist, The Netherlands, is founded and over the years developed expertise in integrated navigation software.

1996 - QINSy is born

QPS develops QINSy (Quality Integrated Navigation System), with a core strength of stability and systems integration that carries through to this day.

2000 - Qastor introduced

Drawing from our core strength of precise navigation, Qastor is introduced, a piloting software used on portable pilot units to ensure safety in any maritime operation.

2005 - Qarto comes alive

Qarto is released as an ENC production platform capable of rapid, batch product generation from daily survey results, ideal for busy ports requiring rapid turnaround.

2011 - Fledermaus is added

Fredericton, New Brunswick-based IVS3D, creators of the industry-leading Fledermaus suite for 4D geo-spatial analysis, is acquired by QPS, an ideal, complementary addition.

2012 - QPS becomes under SAAB AB

The HITT group of companies of which QPS was a part of becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of SAAB AB, a global leader in technology and innovation.

2013 - Port of Rotterdam Innovation

The port adopts the ESRI PortMaps solution integrated with QPS products for surveying, charting, and piloting, for unprecedented 1-3 day survey-to-pilot turnaround.

2015 - The Qimera revolution begins

Qimera revolutionizes hydrographic data processing with an intuitive and easy to use design that still contains the most advanced and innovative tools.

2020 - QPS joins Total Specific Solutions

QPS is acquired by Total Specific Solutions (TSS). A company that solely focuses on growing software companies in vertical markets.
