Delivering Smarter Seabed Survey Data
DOF Subsea is a leading provider of subsea services in all the major oil and gas production regions around the world. With a world class fleet of offshore vessels, AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles), ROVs (Remote Operated Vehicles), diving and survey systems, the group combines expertise and technology to deliver integrated subsea solutions to the offshore oil and gas industry.
DOF Subsea has been using Fledermaus for offshore data processing and visualization since 2008 for its seabed survey data in support of the offshore oil and gas industry. As Fledermaus provides its users with a robust platform for interactively working with large swaths of survey data, clients often request the final Fledermaus Scene as a part of a project’s data delivery package. This scene contains all bathymetric, imagery, and interpretation data from a project and gives subsea engineers and geologists the ability to fully examine the seafloor when planning subsea infrastructure.
DOF Subsea’s AUV group has also chosen Fledermaus as its integrated interpretation platform. As offshore operators move towards smarter GIS-based data standards like SSDM (Seabed Survey Data Model), DOF Subsea’s geologists and data processors have found that Fledermaus helps deliver this interpretation efficiently. Through the seamless migration of vector data from seabed to Esri Geodatabase in Fledermaus, DOF Subsea has been able to raise data delivery standards with a high level of detail by interpreting in a smart 3D environment.
