Seismic application

Seismic surveys are an important aspect for offshore industry; besides mapping the seabed, it also visualize what is below the seabed surface. For the oil and gas industry this is an important way of exploring new natural resources or to estimate existing resources.

The seismic support is standard functionality of QINSy and it suitable for site surveys, ocean bottom cable, vertical seismic profiling (VSP) and high resolution 3D surveys.
Typical use is Gun Control functionality in combination with a triggerbox that is manufactured by QPS. It is possible to issue pre-load shot time based on estimated time of shot and issue of actual shot closure. The firing sequence can be monitored in the Gun QC display.

The standard QINSy functionality of line planning, online navigation and line tracking is available. As preparation a Line Planning tool is used in combination with different back ground file. The online navigation includes the use of USBL systems , Kalman filters use and the use of other sensors such as AIS and ARPA. The displays include a powerful navigation display which can show different background files such as DXF and ENCs. During the survey the progress can be monitored so that it is precisely known what work has been done and what is left. The progress is monitored in terms of percentage and time.

There is extensive quality control functionality available for monitoring the survey. All fixing is stored in the QINSy database and can be used offline to create the UKOOA P1/90 and P5/94 files.
Benefits are: extensive preparation tools, support for a wide variety of sensors, online monitoring options so that problems can be found during the survey , support for industry standard export formats.
