Qimera contains the next generation PFM and Navigation Surface replacement called the Dynamic Surface.
This surface is streamed from disk into the 4D view, thereby eliminating the memory limitations that were previously present. Only the area displayed is streamed and the area closest in the 4D view is displayed at the highest resolution and then degrades further away. These calculations are computed instantaneously to that the interactive with the 4D display is unaffected.The Dynamic Surface is created from the individual survey lines in the QPD format. When the points are editing, either manually or by filtering, only the cells containing edited soundings are adjusted in the Dynamic Surface. This is substantially faster than previous versions.
The main benefits of the Dynamic Surface compared with the PFM Surface before is that there is no loading or unloading of data and that the surface is not static. The surface is automatically updated after any change be it sound velocity, data cleaning, changes to tidal reduction, in fact after any sensor or geospatial editing. This is because the changes are performed on the underlying QPD files which are automatically linked to the Dynamic Surface cell where they reside.
