QPS Advanced Backscatter Workshop, 5th May 2017
Nova Scotia Community College Waterfront Campus, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
To coincide with the 2017 GeoHab conference, but open to all, QPS in partnership with Nova Scotia Community College invite you to attend a full-day Advanced Backscatter Workshop on Friday, 5 May at the Nova Scotia Community College Waterfront Campus in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
The workshop will be led by Dr. Jonathan Beaudoin, QPS Chief Scientist and a contributing author to the Backscatter Working Group document "Backscatter measurements by seafloor-mapping sonars - Guidelines and Recommendations" (http://geohab.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/BWSG-REPORT-MAY2015.pdf). Dr. Beaudoin will provide an explanation of backscatter theory while also discussing the technical aspects of collecting and processing multibeam backscatter data. Particular emphasis will be placed on the best-practices for processing beam time series data using the Fledermaus Geocoder Toolbox (FMGT), and what to consider given the hardware and field collection methods used.
This workshop will be a series of presentations and demonstrations, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptops and data. Upon request, temporary Qimera and Fledermaus licenses will be available to attendees of the workshop for 30 days.
The cost per attendee is $500; refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
To request more information or reserve a space at the workshop please contact Samantha Bruce, firstname.lastname@example.org.
