Advanced Catenary Support: In this release of QINSy it is possible in real time to use advanced catenary tools to compute the tow cables & anchor chains involved in a rig move using a rig and one or more anchor handling tugs. This release of QINSy allows for a template file to be loaded and after which certain parameters may be changed in real time (i.e. tow wire length, anchor chain length, anchor status, rig and tug locations). During each computation cycle the catenary of both the tow wire and the anchor chain and the location of the anchor are computed after which they are displayed in the 3D Grid display. The information may also be presented in the Generic display and the Navigation display. This QINSy release represents completion of Phase 1 of a series of developments of new functionality in QINSy suited to coastal, Oil & Gas, offshore renewable, ROV, cable and pipelay operations. Phase 1 has been completed in close cooperation with Neptune-Geomatics (West Australia) and shortly we will be starting further phases, and requirements / feedback for additional functionality from interested QINSy users is welcomed, please do not hesitate to contact QPS Sales (firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss your requirements.
During the recent acceptance trials of Phase 1, we received very encouraging feedback on the simplicity & friendliness of our implementation of this advanced catenary functionality, particularly the fast computation cycle time. Phase 1 is in direct response to recent requirements to provide state - of -the-art situational awareness tools for rig moves particularly for projects where seabed assets are already in place and it is not sufficient to only study this as part of project preparation, but also live during the rig move.
